Critical mass is a concept that everyone should be taught as a child so that he/she can internalise it to benefit himself/herself and others.
It's an idea illustrating the point that an army of ants can overcome an elephant.
In money terms, it means $1 earning interest at 10% per annum will not match $1m earning 1% per annum.
